A THIEF stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery from a pensioner’s home in Kings Furlong.
The 76-year-old woman noticed on Thursday, April 10, or Friday, April 11, that the drawer to her jewellery box had been left open.
She thought nothing of it at the time but on Sunday, April 13, she noticed some of her jewellery was missing from her home in Townsend Close.
Items included four gold rings together worth £2,600, a 14-carat gold wishbone eternity ring set with eleven diamonds, and an 18-carat gold wishbone half eternity ring set with three rubies and four diamonds.
The other items were an 18-carat basket cluster set with a ruby surrounded by eight diamonds and eight more rubies, and an 18-carat gold ring cluster set with nine diamonds.
It is thought the thefts could have occurred when the victim had been gardening and had left her front door unlocked.
A 34-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested in connection with this theft and bailed until May 27, pending further enquiries.
