MORE details have been released about a collision on an M3 slip road that left a man with serious leg injuries.

The incident took place at around 9.47am this morning on the on-slip road at junction 6 at Basingstoke.

Police said a flat-bed van and trailer, and a VW Golf, had pulled on to the hard shoulder of the slip road, and both drivers got out and exchanged words.

The car driver went back to his vehicle and as he tried to get into it, the van pulled out from behind him and clipped his legs as he passed him.

The van did not stop and carried on along the northbound carriageway.

The car driver was taken to Basingstoke hospital by ambulance.

PC Clyde Jerrard said: “This incident left a man, in his 60s, with some serious leg injuries.

“It’s possible that the van driver was not aware that the man was injured, and we would like to trace him urgently.”

The van driver is described as white, aged 40 to 50, around 5ft 6ins tall, and had a thick neck. He wore a grey top and the flat bed van had a high cab, with a grey trailer.

Anyone with information can contact PC Jerrard at Whitchurch police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
