A WOMAN was airflifted to hospital following a crash on the A303 yesterday evening.

Around 17 firefighters from Basingstoke fire station and Andover fire station were dispatched to the A303 eastbound at Bullington Cross at 5.35pm yesterday evening after they were called to reports of a convertible car on its roof.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Hampshire Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit closed the eastbound side of the A303 for nearly four hours to clear the road causing long tailbacks for motorists.

The road was re-opened at around 9pm.

The female casualty was then taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital. Her injuries are not known.
