PUPILS at a North Waltham school are in the right place when it comes to benefiting from 21st century teaching methods.

North Waltham Primary School has been awarded an ICT Mark following an extensive external assessment of the way it uses computer technology.

The award recognises the school’s success in developing technology in both administration and across the curriculum, giving parents’ proof that their children attend a school at the forefront of modern technology.

Jeff Maidment, headteacher at the school, in Church Road, said: “I am delighted we have been awarded the ICT Mark. It recognises our positive approach to the use of technology and the benefits it is bringing to our children.

“We believe that technology can be used in every aspect of learning and that it is essential our children are equipped for the modern world.”

Claire Hann, ICT co-ordinator, who ensured the school was ready for its ICT Mark assessment, said: “I’m really pleased that the presentation of this award is recognition of the excellent work that is taking place within our school.

“All the children and staff deserve credit for this achievement.”

The ICT Mark award is run by Naace – an ICT association – and is presented to schools which can show good use of technology to support teaching, learning and administration.

Mark Chambers, chief executive officer of Naace, said: “North Waltham Primary School thoroughly deserves the accolade of an ICT Mark accreditation. They clearly demonstrate how important it is to take a whole school approach to using technology in schools.

“We look forward to working with North Waltham to demonstrate how technology can have a substantial impact on learner outcomes in the future.”
