AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a man who was hit by a train in Basingstoke.
Clive Thomas, 67, from Street, Somerset, was hit by a train just before 7.30am on Sunday, on the railway line near Worting Road, Worting.
He was treated for his injuries but was pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious, and that the man’s family had been informed. In a statement released on Monday, the force said Mr Thomas was from Basingstoke.
Andrew Bradley, coroner for North East Hampshire, opened and adjourned an inquest this afternoon. A date has not been set for the inquest, which will require a jury.
