A NURSERY is celebrating after being given a top grading from inspectors.

Education watchdog Ofsted visited Busy Bees Day Nursery, in Hatch Warren Lane, Basingstoke, on May 29, and a report published on July 22 said that the provision is ‘outstanding’.

The report was a major boost for staff after the nursery temporarily closed in February following an incident involving two children, after which a police investigation was launched into a former member of staff.

The 22-year-old woman, who was arrested on suspicion of minor physical assault, was later released on bail, and then told that she would not face further action.

The Ofsted report praised the nursery, which has 147 children on roll, for its safeguarding provision, describing it as “robust”.

The leadership and management were graded as ‘outstanding’ and described as “inspirational”.

The report said: “Children thoroughly enjoy their play and engage happily in their activities.

“Babies and toddlers are highly stimulated in their learning. Their play rooms are very welcoming and conducive for learning.”

The watchdog highlighted the nursery’s routine, saying: “Children have exceptional awareness of the routines of their day. Staff are meticulous in promoting children’s growing understanding of how to keep themselves safe and healthy.”

Julie Weedon, manager at the nursery, said: “We are delighted with the findings of the Ofsted report, and believe the outstanding accreditation is well deserved.

“We work very hard here at the nursery to not only make sure the children are safe and happy but to ensure each child reaches his or her potential in terms of early years educational outcomes, emotional and social development.

“I’d like to thank all of our staff here at Busy Bees in Basingstoke, who are each so passionate about delivering quality childcare and have contributed to securing this fabulous rating. I’d also like to thank the parents who work in partnership with us and get so involved in the nursery community. And of course, last but not least, the wonderful children who attend our nursery.”
