BASINGSTOKE MP Maria Miller took part in a debate following the publication of a report by the All Parliamentary Group on Cycling.

The report – Get Britain Cycling – looks at ways that the Government can encourage and promote cycling across Britain, and in a speech at the meeting, Mrs Miller spoke about the importance of good road design and the importance of education so that people were aware of how they could significantly reduce the risk of injury.

The MP said: “We have to reduce road congestion in Basingstoke and one way of doing that is to increase the number of trips made on foot and by bike.

“Basingstoke is about to embark on significant road improvement schemes. Each should consider how to improve pedestrian and cycling routes.”
