A RECORD number of visitors attended BCoT’s first open evening of the year last week – with more than 520 prospective students passing through the doors.

The aim of the evening was to provide students and their families with ideas and advice as they begin to think about the right course and the right college for them when they leave school.

The apprenticeships team were also on-hand, offering guidance to those young people considering becoming apprentices.

During the evening, many current BCoT students acted as ‘ambassadors’, showing families around the college and sharing their BCoT experiences on the way.

Visitors were able to see demonstrations in many of the departments, as well as visual displays of work.

Feedback was hugely positive from all visitors.

One family, whose son Olly would like to do a marketing apprenticeship, said: “We came along to find out what BCoT has to offer, especially regarding apprenticeships.

“Everyone was incredibly helpful and we got such a great feel for the college. The enthusiasm from staff was infectious, and you could clearly see how much students love being here.”

BCoT principal Anthony Bravo said: “We are delighted that so many families came along to our open evening.

“It was a really busy night, with so many students wanting to see the facilities, chat to our industry-trained tutors, and find out more about the A-levels we have just started to offer.

“We understand what an important time this is for Year 11 students as they consider what to do once they complete their GCSEs.

“At BCoT, we are proud to offer courses that are designed to help young people take the first step in their career, whether through university, employment or an apprenticeship.”

If you missed the open evening, don’t worry – more are planned for the following dates: Saturday, November 15, 10.30am-1pm; Monday, March 9, 4pm-7.30pm; Monday, May 18, 4pm-7.30pm.
