OVERTON Parish Council is looking to tighten up on parking enforcement.
At the latest full council meeting, several councillors raised concerns over a spate of drivers parking on double yellow lines around the village.
Councillors claimed that the current situation is causing danger to other drivers and pedestrians with Poyntz Road and the Winchester Street crossroads being earmarked as the two worst areas.
One of those concerned was public transport representative Councillor Brian Langer who said: “We had the double yellow lines put in for a reason, and there is no point having them unless they are enforced.”
The council has now suggested asking parking enforcers from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to inspect the area while Cllr Langer will carry out his own patrols.
