A TWO-DAY event packed with martial arts demonstrations and activities will raise funds to support Popley youngster Jack Bristow this weekend.

Basingstoke Ju Jitsu trainer Tony Bailey has organised a two-day martial arts seminar which will take place at the Shin Gi Tai Martial Arts Academy, in Jays Close, Viables between 11am and 4.30pm on Saturday for youngsters, and 11am and 5pm on Sunday for adults.

The 45-year-old father-of-two has trained two of Jack’s uncles, Dave and Steve, in the past and once he heard of the 10-year-old’s battle against testicular cancer, he wanted to help raise money for the family appeal.

The two-day bonanza will see a host of renowned martial arts instructors, including Anthony Pillage, who is battling cancer himself, Len Dunce, Paul Hamilton and Clare Brown from Summit Judo Club, the current WAKO European Kickboxing Champion Ron Peploe and Roberto Almeida who is coming all the way from Brazil.

Tony told The Gazette: “I taught his two uncles for quite a while and I have kept in contact with the family over the years and when I first heard about his battle with cancer, it struck a chord with me because I knew the family.

“I wanted to do something to give him a bit more support and positivity.”

The event costs £25 for the junior day and £35 each for the adult day.
