A ROBBER threatened a shop worker in Basingstoke with a gun.

The robbery took place at the Costcutters store, in Downsland Parade, Brookvale, just after 8pm on Friday, April 17.

Police have only just released details about the robbery.

The robber entered the store and threatened a member of staff, demanding that the till be emptied.

Despite the threats, he walked off empty-handed.

It is thought the shop worker saw a gun, but it is not clear whether it was real or an imitation.

Police have released a CCTV picture of the suspect.

He is described white, aged between 21 and 22 and of a heavy build.

He had short mousey brown hair, no facial hair and a clear complexion. He wore a black and red snap back cap, grey jogging bottoms and a black Nike Air Max hooded top with a distinctive logo showing three white trainers on the front.

Detective Constable Paul Harfield said: “Although nobody was physically harmed during the incident, it was a frightening experience for the staff working at the time. Please take a moment to look at the man shown on the CCTV image, do you know who he is?

“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see or hear anything suspicious? If you have any information that could help with this enquiry then I’d like to hear from you.”
