A BLUES band will entertain guests at a glitzy charity night for a Basingstoke hospice and a national cancer charity.

The Casino Royale-themed event will be held at Audleys Wood Hotel, in the Garden Pavilion, on June 12 from 8pm until midnight.

Organised by Basing View based company Unum, it will raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice, in Aldermaston Road, and national cancer charity Maggie’s Cancer Care.

Entertainment will include casino tables, live music from Johnny Marvel’s Blues Groove, magic tricks from George Kinder, a hot buffet, a welcome glass of Pimms and a photo booth.

Tickets cost £25 and all profits will be split between the two charities.

Jackie Ridge, corporate partnership and legacy manager at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Unum again this year. Here at St Michael’s, we know the importance that Unum places on supporting the community and their social corporate responsibilities.

"To have the support of such a key organisation in Basingstoke makes a huge difference to us here at St Michael’s Hospice.

“Without the support of the local business community we simply could not continue to offer our services to patients and families in the area at a time when they are most needed.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone at Unum for their support and are looking forward to a spectacular summer party event.”

Gemma Chance, from Maggie’s, added: “We rely on the generosity of our supporters and Unum’s fundraising will help to find our unique programme of support for people with cancer, their families and friends.”
