A TADLEY man who dedicates his time to helping others in the community has been honoured.
He may have only started in the role six months ago, but Larry Pegg – the caretaker at Tadley Community Centre in Newchurch Road – has made a big impression.
Larry has been involved in the day-to-day running of the facility and has made a number of improvements to the building, often working outside of the hours he should.
He regularly helps out elderly neighbours with odd jobs around their homes and errands such as getting them shopping.
Councillor David Leeks, chairman of Tadley Town Council, said: “He thoroughly deserves the award.”
The decision to award Larry, who is 65, with a Good Citizen’s Award was taken by Tadley town councillors.
Father-of-one Larry, who lives in Newtown, Tadley, told The Gazette: “I am very proud. It is such a nice place to work. I think I have done quite a bit but I would like to do more.”
