AN INCIDENT involving a lorry carrying hair products has resulted in severe delays on a Hampshire road.
Highways England is warning road users that the A34, which runs through Whitchurch, is closed southbound and one lane northbound between the A4 and A343.
Police, fire and Highways England traffic officers are currently at the scene dealing with the incident, which happened at 6.45am when the lorry overturned and shed its load of cosmetic products, including boxes containing flammables.
The male driver of the lorry is believed to have sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey because of significant delays in the area.
Traffic is being diverted off the A34 at Speen via the A4 eastbound, A339, and B4640 southbound to Tothill to re-join the A34.
The carriageway is likely to remain closed until later this evening while a police investigation is carried out.
Debris must be cleaned off the road before recovery of the lorry can take place, then repair work to the barrier carried out.
