TAKE That, Midge Ure and Level 42 are among the acts set to perform on the last day of this year’s CarFest South festival.

They follow an action-packed Saturday, when the rain failed to dampen the spirits of the thousands of people attending the music and motoring festival.

Organiser Chris Evans, who introduced each act on the main stage at Laverstoke Park Farm, Overton, revealed that the festival’s guest of honour was his mother Minnie.

She sat on a throne and addressed the crowd before telling everyone that she was leaving early.

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary were also invited on to the main stage, where the ginger-haired host called them heroes before making them dance to YMCA by Village People.

Texas got the music underway on the main stage, and were followed by acts including The Feeling, Seasick Steve and a pregnant Sophie Ellis-Bextor, before headline act Paloma Faith rounded off the night in style.
