HIGHLY offensive messages were sprayed on walls across Basingstoke across the weekend, triggering a police probe.

Officers are today appealing for your help as they investigate four reports of criminal damage.

Two of the offences took place at the Territorial Army building in Penrith Road, on the nights of Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21.

The other two offences took place at Maplin, in Winchester Road, on Friday night, and on a wall at All Saints Church, in Southern Road, on Saturday night.

PC Lee Stanbrook, from Basingstoke police station, said: “Incidents like these are unacceptable, and can cause great offence to the communities concerned.

“Anyone who engages in such activity is committing a criminal offence which could lead to a custodial sentence.

“Such incidents are rare in Basingstoke and we will continue to work hard to make sure anyone living in, working in or visiting the borough feels safe.”
