HAMPSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service is still investigating what caused a fire at an office block in Basingstoke town centre.
As previously reported in The Gazette, more than 30 firefighters in six engines fought the blaze at the empty building in Alencon Link on June 3.
The fire service said it had launched an investigation to find out what caused the fire on the top floor of Normandy House, but more than six weeks later this is still ongoing.
Residents living in Skyline Plaza, opposite the building, said that it had been left insecure after windows were smashed by vandals.
The office block has been empty since IBM moved its staff to offices in Farnborough and Hursley in 2013.
Last year, The Gazette reported that Normandy Estate Company had applied to the borough council for planning permission to change the use of the office block from business to residential use, to build 153 new flats.
This was granted in April last year.
