FIREFIGHTERS helped rescue a horse after it became trapped in a ditch full of water.
Crews from Basingstoke, Overton, Alton and Fareham were called to the scene in Soldridge Road, Medstead, Alton at 3.51pm yesterday, when the horse became stuck in a ditch under a metre-and-a-half of water.
When the crews arrived the animal’s head was above the water but it seems a bit distressed.
Crews used a digger, along with strops and hand tools, to release the horse.
The horse was freed safely at around 7.30pm.
