WIN a £5,000 makeover for a local community garden or open space

This newspaper group has teamed up with leading groundworks contractor Tithegrove to offer readers the chance to win a major refurbishment.

It comes as Tithegrove expands its work into Hampshire, with new offices in Winchester and a big recruitment drive under way.

Tithegrove, a forward-thinking company with more than 30 years' experience in groundworks and landscaping, is offering a makeover worth £5,000 to the lucky winner.

Local community groups, charities, schools and churches are all invited to apply to the competition. A judging panel from Tithegrove will decide the winner.

Greg Tucker, regional director, is keen for worthy causes to apply from across the community.

He said: “Helping the community is a big focus for us at Tithegrove. Our expertise is in providing groundworks for large housing developments – this involves working in close partnerships with housebuilders, being in at the beginning of a project putting in foundations and setting out plots and then coming back at the end to complete roads, paving and gardens.

“Giving back to the community and helping good causes is very important for us, so we are delighted to be launching this competition.”

Tithegrove was founded in Swindon in 1984 and has built up a strong reputation across Wiltshire and Somerset, working with a range of housebuilders, including Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon Homes and Linden Homes.

In recent years the firm has gone from strength to strength, opening its new office at The Cavendish Centre, in Winchester, last year.

It is currently working on a major housebuilding scheme in Basingstoke and is looking to recruit in Southampton, Winchester and Basingstoke as it expands further.

Tithegrove is hoping to help a community project along similar lines with the competition launched today in the Gazette.

Greg said: “We are keen to make a difference. So the winning project is likely to be where our team can have the biggest impact.

“It could be a community centre with an overgrown, weed-infested patch of land or a school or scout group with a garden that they haven’t got the resources to tackle.

“We can’t perform miracles, but we can do quite a bit within the £5,000 budget. What’s for sure is that Tithegrove has the manpower and the skills to transform any area.

“It’s going to be a tough choice for our judging panel, but we are really looking forward to getting stuck in and helping the community.”
