Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletic Club (BMHAC) made a resounding impact at the Hampshire County Athletic Championships, amassing an extraordinary number of medals.

The two-day track and field championship held at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth on May 13 and 14 witnessed the participation of more than 700 athletes from 36 athletics clubs.

Among the county's clubs, BMHAC stood tall as the third most represented, with an impressive 100 entries in the championships.

BMHAC's remarkable achievement was reflected in their haul of well over 50 medals, spanning various age groups from the talented Under 13 competitors to the seasoned seniors.

The club's strength and depth were on full display, with exceptional performances that included numerous personal best times in all disciplines throughout the weekend.

These achievements have propelled many BMHAC athletes into the top ranks of the country, with several achieving or surpassing their AAA standard grades.

Among the standout performances in the senior men's category, Cal McLennan showcased his versatility by capturing Gold in both the High Jump and the Long Jump.

He also secured the Silver in the 110M Hurdles and the Bronze in the Javelin.

George Asprey delivered a remarkable performance, claiming Gold in the 110M Hurdles and Silver in the Shot Put.

Asprey further added to his success by clinching the Bronze in the Pole Vault, joining fellow athletes Tom Chandler and Daniel Thomas, who won Gold and Silver respectively, to complete a clean sweep for Basingstoke.

Tom Chandler also secured Gold in the Discus, while Dave Ragan earned the Bronze in the 5000m.

In the U20 men's category, Henry Christer exhibited lightning-fast speed as he clinched Gold in both the 100m and 200m sprint races, shattering his previous personal bests in both events.

Harry Ware displayed his exceptional endurance by claiming the Gold in the 800m, with Stefan O'Loughnane hot on his heels, securing the Bronze.

Samuel Kemp earned the Silver in the 2000M Steeplechase.

In the field events, Mikun Adeniran continued to impress, securing Gold in the Discus.

Aaron Topham and Harvey Hannington contributed to the club's success by securing the Silver in the Long Jump and Triple Jump respectively.

The U17 men were not to be outdone, with Jan Addington claiming the Silver in the Discus on Saturday and following it up with an impressive Gold in the Shot Put on Sunday.

Idanayi Munowenyu secured the Gold in the 200M, while Orrin Wheeler earned the Bronze in the 800M.

The U15 boys displayed remarkable form, with Benjamin Barker earning Silver in both the Shot Put and the Javelin.

Georgie Hedderly emerged as a double medal winner, with Silver in the Discus on Sunday following his Bronze in the Shot Put on Saturday.

Oliver Hibberd secured the Silver in the 300M, while Edward Callow claimed the Bronze.

Ethan Easton and Alec Hay added to the club's success, securing the Bronze in the Long Jump and the 80M Hurdles respectively.

Under 13 boys Archie Burniston and Tobi Adeniran made their mark in their respective events.

Burniston delivered a phenomenal performance, securing Gold in the 1500m and smashing his previous personal best by almost 10 seconds.

Adeniran continued the family's success by earning the Silver in the Shot Put.

In the Women's competition, outstanding performances were seen across various events.

Emma King claimed the Silver in the SW 100M Hurdles, showcasing her skill and determination.

Ayomide Cole, returning from injury, triumphed as a double medal winner, securing Silver in the U20W 200M and Bronze in the 400M.

Libbie French contributed to the club's success by earning the Bronze in the 400M Hurdles.

In the High Jump, Lenka Addington and Rose Fitzgerald shared the Bronze position, with both athletes clearing an impressive height of 1M45.

The U17W category witnessed a phenomenal performance by Imogen Edwards, who showcased her talent and endurance.

Edwards claimed the Silver in the 1500M on Saturday and followed it up with an impressive run on Sunday, earning the Gold in the 3000M, setting personal best times in both events.

Denya Guma excelled in the U15G category, collecting a complete set of medals. Guma secured Gold in the High Jump, Silver in the 75M Hurdles, and Bronze in the Long Jump.

Daisy Allford also proved to be a formidable competitor, earning a Silver medal in the 300M and another Silver in the 800M, with a remarkable personal best.

Lily Mae Lancaster Evans showcased her determination and skill by achieving a Bronze in the 1500M, smashing her previous personal best.

The U13 Girls demonstrated their exceptional abilities, with three double medal winners. Celeste Vickers displayed her prowess by capturing Gold in the 800M and Silver in the Discus.

Lily Ward showcased her versatility, earning Gold in the Discus and Bronze in the Long Jump.

Ava Cassia impressed in the Javelin, securing the Silver, and showcased her endurance by earning the Bronze in the 800M.

While not everyone managed to secure medals, the entire team had much to be proud of. The coaches and officials deserve recognition and appreciation for their dedication in organizing events of this magnitude.
