Hook & Newnham Basics are through to the last eight of the Voneus Broadband National Village Championship after a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Goatacre at the King George V Ground, writes Mike Vimpany.
A 131-run opening stand between Sam Lockwood (69) and Harry Warner, who remained unbeaten with 69, took Hook to within sight of Goatacre's 220 all out - a target they chased down with four overs to spare.
The victory has taken Hook to within two wins of a place in the early September final at Lord's, but they'll have to beat Grampound Road on Cornish soil on Sunday week if they are to make the semi-finals.
