A BUMPER crowd is expected at May’s Bounty on Monday, August 28, for the finals of the Guy Jewell Cup and Cyril Thompson Trophy, writes Graham Merry.

Basingstoke and North Hants will be keen to make it a league and cup double and keep the Guy Jewell Cup for another year.

Trying to stop them is Old Basing who last enjoyed glory in this trophy in 2009.

The Bountymen who play in the Southern League Division One will start as favourites against their Hampshire League rivals in a T20 game which starts at 2.30pm.

Before this at the same venue is the final of the Cyril Thompson Trophy which is another T20 game and starts at 11am. Admission to both games is free.

This will be between Hook and Newnham Basics B and Chawton.

Hook booked their place in the final with 96-run success over Yateley.

Charlie Neville with an unbeaten 63 and Thomas Dyer 47 helped Hook to 164-3.

Yateley were then bowled out for 68 as Luke Burgess took 4-10, Ollie May 2-11 and Neville 2-6.

Chawton also won their semi-final in comfortable fashion beating Stratfield Turgis by 84 runs.

Chawton made 179-5 and in reply Strafield Turgis finished on 95-8 with Chris Butcher top scoring with 31.
