HARTLEY Wintney made it two wins in three days with a win at a frozen Ascot United ground, writes David Graham.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at Hartley. However with the Row pitch frozen the match was switched to the 3G pitch at Ascot reversing the fixture.

On Saturday the teams will meet again at Hartley Wintney.

The Row almost got stuck in the starting stalls at the beginning of the match with two unforced errors.

On 30 seconds Hartley goalie Louis Evans dallied on kicking the ball upfield and his clearance hit Oliver Harris and rebounded just past the post.  Then a short back pass allowed United’s  Ben Harris a shot which he hit straight at Evans.

Hartley started to get into their stride and on eight minutes IK Hill set up Momodou Jallow who saw his shot saved by Hugo Sobte in the Ascot goal.

Three minutes later the Row went ahead with a well-worked goal.

Jallow made good progress down the right wing and sent Mason Obeng through the middle. The midfielder ran on like a thoroughbred and fired an excellent strike past Sobte.  (0-1)

Ascot started the pursuit and on 19 minutes a well-struck shot from Oliver Harris brought out a good save from Evans.

Two minutes from half time the Row added a second goal.  A long ball forward saw Conor Lynch galloping towards the Ascot goal. He finally got his nose in front of the marking United defender and his shot went over Sobte into the net. (0-2)

The home side started the brighter and a snap shot from distance by Harry Grant was saved by Evans.

The first Row chance of the half arrived on 56 minutes when a well-worked move through midfield gave Jallow an opening and the winger saw his effort saved by Sobte.

The home side had a spell of pressure towards the end but were unable to create a clear-cut chance.

The last chance fell to the Row when Lynch set up Obeng on 89 minutes and Sobte saved well. Hartley then cantered home and entered the winning enclosure to be awarded the three points.
