BASINGSTOKE passengers are no longer facing disruption as trains to London Waterloo are running 'normally' following yesterday's incident.

As previously reported, South Western Railway was unable to run any services between Woking and London Waterloo on March 4, due to a train hitting an object on the track.

A spokesperson for National Rail previously said: "At around 5.50am this morning, a South Western Railway train travelling towards London Waterloo struck an object in the Walton-on-Thames area.

“No-one was injured and all passengers were safely escorted from the train; however, the lines through the area are currently blocked while we investigate."

The company says they expect it would 'likely to take us some time to get the railway reopened' as early investigations showed the front wheels of the train were derailed.
