THE esteemed Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment will make two exciting visits to The Anvil in Basingstoke in April.
They kickstart the month with conductor Maxim Emelyanychev on Friday, April 5.
Glinka’s overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla starts the night, followed by Rachmaninov’s The Rock. Concluding the night, Sibelius' fifth symphony seeing its inspiration from a flock of swans dramatically sets the finishing touches to their inaugural visit.
Returning later on Thursday, April 18, pianist/director Sir András Schiff joins the esteemed orchestra to add an extra dash of flair.

The programme begins with Mendelssohn's Symphony No.1, showcasing the prodigy's originality. His Piano Concerto No.1 follows, leading the audience from drama to tenderness, concluding with a mighty display of virtuosity.
The irresistibly exuberant Italian Symphony ends the evening capturing the young composer’s excitement on his first visit. The slow movement is a pilgrim’s march, and the gently flowing scherzo is followed by an exhilarating Neapolitan dance as a finale.
