GREGGS branches in Basingstoke have been unaffected by a technical glitch that hit hundreds of stores in the UK this morning (Wednesday, March 20).
Basingstoke branches of Greggs at St Michaels Retail Park, Festival Place, Houndmills Trade Park and Chineham Shopping Centre are all running smoothly despite a national technical issue in the morning.
One of the Greggs staff confirmed that there was a brief technical trouble in the morning but it was back to normal rather quickly.
Britain’s biggest bakery chain was hit by technical problems with payments forcing many stores to temporarily close on Wednesday morning, according to reports.

In a statement, Greggs said: “We are currently experiencing issues accepting payments in our shops. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible.”
Stores in cities including London, Manchester, Cardiff and Glasgow were affected by problems with card payments.
The technical glitch forced some shops to put up temporary “closed” signs on their doors, while some shops asked customers to place orders via the Greggs mobile app, before food could be handed to them.
