A BASINGSTOKE man who did not have a valid ticket for a tram journey he took in Croydon has been fined hundreds of pounds.

Mason Taylor, of Stratfield Road, on November 22, last year, did not a have a vailed ticket for the entire journey he took on the Croydon Tramlink.

The offence was proven in the 32-year-old’s absence during a hearing at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court, in London, on March 13.

Taylor was fined £220 and told to pay £1.75 compensation. He must also pay court costs of £100 and an £88 victim surcharge.
