A MAN from Basingstoke who got behind the wheel while over the drug limit has been banned from the roads for years.

Lewis Crawford, of Wither Rise in Oakley, on Saturday, October 7 last year had in his possession 4g of cannabis, a Class B drug in Basingstoke.

On the same date he was caught behind the wheel of a Fiat on Roman Road, also in Basingstoke, with 5.2 micrograms of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood - the legal limit is 2.

During a hearing held at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 28 the 24-year-old pleaded guilty to both offences.

Magistrates banned him from driving for 36 months and ordered a fine of £250 to be paid for the driving offence and a further £166 must be paid for having the cannabis.

Court costs of £50 and a surcharge fee of £166 must also be paid.

The cannabis must be destroyed.
