A THIRD arrest has been made after a man in his 20s was stabbed in Basingstoke's town centre.

Hampshire Constabulary officers were called to a report that a man in his 20s had been stabbed on Churchill Way in Basingstoke at 6.40pm on Saturday, January 13.

He was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

A 19-year-old man from Aldershot was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.

It comes after officers arrested two other men as part of their investigation.

In January, a man from Basingstoke, now aged 32, was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was bailed with conditions until Wednesday April, 24 pending further enquiries.

In February, a man from London, now aged 28, was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was bailed with conditions until Wednesday, May 8 pending further enquiries.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers continue to investigate the incident and would like to appeal for witnesses and information.
