A FORD Fiesta crashed with a Mercedes on the M3 northbound near Hook junction 5 on Thursday, April 18, forcing traffic delays for more than hour.

The Fiesta was on its roof, but thankfully there were no life-threatening injuries to passengers of either car.

One person involved in the crash was assisted by firefighters before being passed into the care of paramedics.

All lanes were closed following the incident, but they were partially opened as police and firefighters dealt with the situation.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 09.48am this morning (Thursday April 18) following a collision between a Mercedes and a Ford Fiesta on the M3 northbound between junctions 5-6. The Fiesta was on its roof.

"Lane closures were put in place for a short time to allow emergency services access to the scene. No life-threatening injuries have been reported at this time."

A fire and rescue service spokesperson said: "This morning at 09.45am, Basingstoke firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision on the M3 northbound, between junctions 5 and 6.

"The crews made the scene safe as they assisted one casualty who was passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service paramedics before HIWFRS left the scene following the stop message at 10.45am.”
