A MAN in his 40s has died after emergency services were called to a petrol station.

Emergency services were called to a report of a medical incident at the Sainsbury's petrol station in Wallop Drive, Kempshott, on Thursday, April 18. 

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at 8.52am today (18 April) by the ambulance service to a report of a medical incident at the Sainsbury’s petrol station on Wallop Drive, Basingstoke.

"Sadly, a man in his 40s died at the scene. The man’s next of kin are aware of his unexpected death, and a file will be prepared for the Coroner."

The petrol station was closed to members of the public and remained shut until the afternoon. 

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “The petrol station at our Kempshott Superstore was temporarily closed after emergency services attended an incident this morning.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Fire engines were also present, a spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters from Basingstoke were called to assist Emergency Service colleagues at an incident off Wallop Drive, Basingstoke, at just after 9am this morning (18 April)."
