A POP singer based in RAF Odiham recently had the chance to perform in front of Oasis star Noel Gallagher and his band High Flying Birds.

Kelly Peffers was hand-picked to perform at the band’s exclusive after-show party, performing alongside acts such as The Rifles and Paul Gallagher – the lesser-known Mancunian Gallagher brother.

Kelly, who is 25 and a trainee tattooist, has also recently opened for acts such as Basement Jaxx, HotChip and LCD Soundsystem.

Kelly, a mum with two young daughters and who is the wife of an RAF serviceman, said it was a combination of determination and “very, very hard work” that was behind her growing success in the music business.

She said: “I’ve been working for years getting my music out there. I’d love to be a full-time musician but you have to keep your options open.

“It’s a very hard business to get in to.”

The aftershow-party, at The Old Fire Station, in Bournemouth, followed the High Flying Birds gig in the B.I.C.

Kelly said: “It was amazing to perform there and great to meet the other musicians. I was gutted I didn’t get to meet Noel but I met his brother Paul who was lovely.”

Kelly performs under the stage name ‘kleeba’ and is currently trying to recruit band members to join the outfit.

She has been writing music since her school days and started her career as a studio session singer in the South West.
