KINGSCLERE Quails look on course for another championship with seven weeks of the season left, as they lead the Whitchurch League Division One by 10 points from Hyde Abbey.

Their latest success was a 72-38 victory over Basingstoke Town Spades, while second-placed Hyde Abbey, who have a game in hand, also won, beating Littleton Leopards 51-41.

Howard Park A beat Oakley A 58-35 to move into third, while Alton trounced Alton Social 56-32, but both clubs still prop up the table.

The only other result in the division saw Andover B just shade St Mary Bourne Hawks 39-36.

Whitchurch Yellows, with a game in hand, still lead Division Two by seven points from Oakley B, following their 62-39 win at home to Marnell B.

Howard Park C continue to look set for the drop, as they lost at home to Oakley (64-33).

Town’s Diamonds are now 15.5 points ahead of second-placed Thornycroft in Division Three.

Diamonds beat Marnell A 62-35 and Friary had a rare win over Hook Foxes (49-45).

Division Four leaders Andover C beat St Mary Bourne Merlins 55-31, with Littleton Lemurs keeping up the pressure to be prom-oted by winning at Hyde Abbey B (51-34).

Old Basing Royalists won at home, 55-38 against bottom team Howard Park B.

Loddon Vale have had two friendly matches against West Berks and Chawton Park, with very similar results.

Against West Berks, they lost 106-98, with only one winning rink, skipped by Alan Smith (22-9).

In the second match against Chawton Park, they went down 106-102, with two winning rinks – Arthur Peters (21-12) and Sheila Girle (32-5).
