ROB Collard won the final race of the day at Knockhill in the British Touring Car Championship on Sunday.

The Hook driver started the day in last place in the grid for race one and ended it by taking the chequered flag.

Collard having qualified ninth at the Scottish track, was relegated to the back of the grid, due a penalty from the last meeting at Snetterton, for overtaking under a yellow flag.

The Hook driver had a storming first race drive to move up 19 places to 12th and he continued his way up the field in his second outing as he came in fifth.

Collard made a great start in the final race and on lap eight, took over the lead from fellow north Hampshire racer Nick Foster.

This was on his way to his first victory since 2012, which was at the same Scottish circuit. The win moved him up to fourth in the championship.

It was also a great day for Odiham’s Foster, as he collected his highest finish of the season with a fourth in race three, battling with team mate and championship leader Colin Turkington right to the line for the final podium place.

It completed a trio of top 10 finishes for Foster, who also qualified in the top 10 as he had a great weekend.

Both drivers will hope to do just as well at the next round, which is at Rockingham on Sunday September 7.
