PROMOTED Hampshire Irons had a great start in the Basingstoke and District League Division One as they won at Hook Reserves 6-1.

Former Pure Spartan hit man Chris Dobbie scored five of their six and his first came after 12 minutes as he headed home a cross from Tom Chant.

James Arnold then made it 2-0 and then Dobbie scored from Craig Hopper pass. After the break, Dobbie scored three more and Hook’s lone reply came from Jack McKee, after being set up by Andy Parker.

A young North Warnborough side went down 3-0 to nearly promoted Twentyten.

Joe Hill netted the first after good spade work by Jake Hannah.

A fine solo effort by Joe Osbourne and a third was scored by Jordon Wainwright following a fine cross from Carl Pearson. Overton United A edged newly promoted DJS Telecoms 2-1.

DJS took the lead after 55 minutes through Carlos Gonzales with a deflected free-kick. John Gurney levelled 10 minutes later after being found by John Sayers.

The Overon winner came 15 minutes from time as Siyanni Thomas put away a cross from Dan Manton.

In the last five minutes, DJS were reduced to 10 men after Dan Dedman reduced a straight red card.
