JUSTIN Rose has certainly played his part in helping Europe into a 10-6 lead in the Ryder Cup, ahead of today’s singles at Gleneagles.

The home team and holders need just four points, from the 12 singles to retain the trophy and Rose is fourth off at 12.12pm against Hunter Mahan.

Yesterday, the north Hampshire golfer along with partner Henrik Stenson won their fourballs against Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar three and two.

In the morning, Rose played with Martin Kaymer and shared their game with Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed.

On the first day of competition, the Englishman completed a double success, even if he was stung by a wasp.

It was lucky for Rose it was his right thumb, but he was buzzing after it, as he and Stenson beat Watson and Webb Simpson five and four in the opening four balls.

They then saw off Mahan and Zach Johnson two and one in the afternoon foursomes.
