WHITCHURCH United are second in the Wessex League Premier Division, level on points with the leaders having played a game less, after grabbing an injury-time winner away at Alresford Town last night.

Alresford went ahead on 22 minutes, Dan Fox finding the net, but the Jam Boys responded just seven minutes later, Danny Phillips heading home from a corner.

The scores remained level until 11 minutes into the second half, Jack Garner pouncing on a poor defensive header to fire home from 20 yards and put Whitchurch ahead for the first time.

Alresford equalised through Tom Riddell with 12 minutes to go, but the visitors piled on the pressure and got their reward in the third minute of added time, Phillips sweeping home his second of the game to make it 3-2.

Whitchurch have made a new addition to their squad this week, signing striker Lerone Plummer from Fareham, and they host Division One outfit New Milton Town in the Wessex League Cup on Saturday.
