OVERTON United produced an excellent display to beat higher-league Andover New Street 3-1 in the Russell Cotes Cup last night.

Hosts Overton played against the conditions in the first half but trailed to a fine strike from a free-kick at the break.

However, the Hampshire Premier League side were not overawed by their Wessex League opponents and hit back after the break.

Dave Parry laid the equaliser on for Chris Lavisher five minutes after the change of ends and Lavisher struck again to put his side ahead soon after. Parry completed the scoring with a fine individual effort 10 minutes from time.

Overton travel to Stockbridge in the Hampshire Premier League Cup on Saturday.
