BASINGSTOKE Bison are on a revenge mission this weekend as they face local rivals Bracknell Bees and Guildford Flames.

Earlier this month, the Herd lost to both sides and they will be keen to pick up a full four points this time around, in games which count to towards the English Premier League and English Challenge Cup.

First up this weekend is a visit from Bracknell on Saturday night (face-off 6.30pm) and then the Bison travel to the Spectrum to take on Guildford on Sunday (face-off 6pm).

The Bees are buzzing at the moment, after an excellent home win over Guildford last Sunday 4-1, which followed on from an overtime loss in Peterborough.

They also came back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to beat the Herd at the Hive three weeks ago.

The Bison will be looking to make sure this does not happen again.

The home side look set to be without forwards Andy Melachrino and Michael Wales and defenceman Matt Selby for the weekend.

Bracknell will be minus Chris Wiggins, who was dismissed in the first game between the sides, as he signed for Milton Keynes last weekend.

Looking ahead to the visit of Bracknell, Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard said: “Being a derby it should a great atmosphere. We know Bracknell will battle hard and we have to make sure we out-work them, so we can get the win.”

On Sunday night, the Bison make the trip to Guildford and when these sides clashed in Basingstoke on the first weekend of this month, the game was decided by a penalty shoot-out, with the visitors winning.

However, in pre-season the Bison won at the Spectrum and they would love to repeat the victory.

Last weekend, the Surrey side suffered a rare blank weekend as they lost at leaders Telford and then in Bracknell.

Last night, the Flames were in action at home to Sheffield and on Saturday they have a tough trip to Milton Keynes, before they face the Bison.

Casting his eye over the trip to the Spectrum, Bison boss Sheppard said: “We have already seen Guildford a few times this season and know what they are all about.

“We know they have some dangerous players, who we will have to stop if we are going to get the victory we want.”
