The Abacus Employment Hatch Warren Phoenix under-13s had their toughest test to date and won a thriller 4-3 against visiting Amesbury in the Testway League.

The home side fell behind after 15 minutes, but thanks to a great strike from Bailey Bavister they levelled things before the break.

After half-time, the Wiltshire visitors took the lead again, but Pranni Subramaniam slotted home following great wide play from Bailey Fuller.

A sublime chip from Phoenix full-back Jake Hall gave the home side the lead for the first time, only for Amesbury to score a third. However, the Phoenix were not to be denied the win, as Subramaniam smashed home the winner.

Louis Vaksdal had a great day for Hatch Warren on his way to the man-of-the-match award.

Manager Paul Pickering said: “I am very proud of the boys.

“This result shows that after only four games, we can compete with established sides that have been playing together for many years.”

The Abacus Employment Hatch Warren Phoenix Inferno were in fine form for their first road trip of the season to Oakley FC, where they faced a mixture of the hosts’ teams over four games in the Peter Houseman Youth League.

The Inferno started strongly and continued in the same vein throughout the morning’s pro-ceedings with some wonderful play from all of the boys and girls involved. The Flames and Blaze under-eights started brightly, with Oakley putting up some stiff opposition.

All of the games were entertaining, with Oakley and the Phoenix enjoying spells of control and breakaways, only to be thwarted by disciplined defending.

Fraser Barnett continues to develop at a fast pace, while Harry Hartgill’s positional play also continues to develop, supported by team mates Jack Ross and Charlie North on the wings.

The Blaze were bolstered by Carlie Allen and George Sharp of the Inferno, while Jack Jupp moved up from the Flames.
