NICOLE Rogers and Ashley Nethercliffe represented Hampshire in the finals of the National Bowls Youth Development Scheme at Melton Mowbray.

Rogers, having moved up to the under-18 age group, played her usual competent series of disciplines.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Nethercliffe swept the board, winning all his categories, including the Round Robin, skills and overall junior winner.

The Vyne School pupil also picked up the overall champion shield for most points won across all age-groups.

Both Loddon Vale Ladies and Men had good wins over strong competition last Saturday.

The ladies met Victory in the Riversmeet and won by 91-56, thanks to winning rinks skipped by Sheila Stone (30-8) and Tina Rogers (29-10), while the losing rinks were June Harvie (17-15) and Karen Winter (21-17).

The men beat Atherley in the Denny Plate by nine shots and now go onto meet Riverside in the next round.

In the afternoon, the men beat Thameside Wanderers 159-115 in a friendly.

Their winning rinks were skipped by Mick Jones (22-15), Don Lee (28-10), Gerald Norris (31-12), Terry Jones (24-10) and Ian Laming (16-11).

Brian Ambler’s rink drew level 15-15, while the less than average rinks were skipped by Frank Fuller (19-12) and Jim Rainbow (23-11).
