WHITCHURCH United sit third in the Wessex League Premier Division table after drawing 1-1 away at Lymington Town on Saturday.

After a goal-less first half, it was visiting Whitchurch who took the lead, Josh Green converting from the penalty spot after Josh Harfield had been brought down, but Lymington managed to equalise.

Neither side was able to find a winner despite the home side ending the game with 10 men after having a player sent off.

The Jam Boys were also in action last Wednesday, winning 3-1 at home to Stockbridge in the North Hants Senior Cup.

Jamie Mansell put the hosts ahead after 20 minutes, but the Hampshire Premier League side hit back to level before half-time. Mansell restored Whitchurch’s lead with his second of the match in the opening minute of the second half, before Ryan Lambert made the game safe.

Whitchurch host Blackfield and Langley in the Wessex League Cup on Wednesday night, before taking on Moneyfields in a top-of-the-table clash at Longmeadow on Saturday. They then host Southern League Fleet Town in the Hampshire Senior Cup next Wednesday.
