BASINGSTOKE’S synchronised ice skating teams enjoyed a winning double in their first outing of the season in Cardiff.

The adult team – Ice Age – recorded a personal best score on their way to taking their gold.

The winning Ice Age team included Hazil Baldwin, Wendy Baldwin, Alison Clark, Peter Evans, Chris Fenlon, Mike Hatcher, Helen Leighs, Sarah Lewendon, Ashleigh Lowen and Lucas Walker.

Snowstorm, competing in the elementary category, had a great skate with their new programme and also finished first.

The victorious Snowstorm team comprised Leila Buick, Abbie Bush, Sian Clark, Isabelle Davey, Holly Denny, Callie Drozd, Charlotte Kinge, Sophia Mackenzie, Aysha McNeil and Sarah Wilson.

Ice Sensation, the mixed age team, had a good skate and also finished on the podium, coming third – a good start to their season.

The skaters in Ice Sensation are Hayley Callaway, Tiffany Carter, Rae Crawford, Fiona Hammett, Jodie Hatherall, Rosie Hatton, Anabelle Herbert, Emma Herbert, Debbie Langley, Imogen Martin, Hannah Mills, Eleanor Penfold, Madelaine Sumner, Abbie Bush, Isabelle Davey and Sarah Wilson.

All the teams are coached by Fiona Harris and Nadia Sargeant and are now working hard towards the British Championships at Nottingham in the middle of January.

Harris said: “It was a really strong start from all the teams, so we are hoping for a successful season.”
