BASINGSTOKE and Mid Hants athletes enjoyed plenty of success at the South of England Indoor Championships.

A number of athletes from the Down Grange club travelled to Lee Valley for the event, coming home with two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

New signing Ryan Bonifas leapt 2.09m to win the senior high jump, while Matt Comer claimed victory in the under-17 800m, clocking 2min 03.41sec in the final.

The silver medallists were Matthew Lavoipierre, who clocked 49.92 to finish second in the senior 400m, and Kierra Barker, who leapt 5.59m to finish as runner-up in the under-20 long jump.

Tom Syckelmoore won bronze in the senior 800m, clocking 1:54.49 in the final, while Kieran Showler-Davis finished third in the senior 60m, stopping the clock at 6.86sec.

Andy Blow finished just outside the medals in the senior 60m hurdles, coming fourth in 8.16sec, while Dean Showler-Davis made the final of the 200m but failed to finish.
