RISING Sun DC sit top of the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Premier Division after a 2-1 win over Sherborne St John.

Sherborne’s Ash Pirie hit the post in the first half, but the deadlock was not broken until the 65th minute, Lee Chambers firing home from Shaun Searle’s cross to put Rising Sun ahead. Sachin Rai levelled for Sherborne five minutes later, but new signing Luke Richardson came on as a substitute to score the winner with five minutes left.

Bramley United beat struggling Welly Old Boys 6-0, scoring three games in each half. Sam Cato, Aaron Burt and Simon Goff had Bramley in charge at the break, with Cato completing his hat-trick in the second half, scoring either side of Adam Bartlett’s effort.

Overton United A top Division One by eight points after beating DJS Telecoms 3-1. Jesse Todd scored twice for Overton early on and while Lee Neal pulled a goal back before half-time, Siyanni Thomas made the game safe with 10 minutes to go.

Second-placed Hampshire Irons lost ground, losing 2-1 to TwentyTen. Irons went ahead through James Arnold after 15 minutes, but Carl Pearson levelled on the half-hour and Jordon Wainwright scored the winner.

Bounty United lead Division Two on goal difference from Labour Club after beating Overton United B 9-4.

Jordon Willis put Bounty ahead, Mitchell Stokes scored twice and Matt Love and Paul Barton also found the net to put Bounty five goals up. Goals from Overton’s Tito Martins and Les Watts made it 5-2 at half-time.

Six more goals were scored in the second half. Stokes completed his hat-trick, Willis got his second and Brad Neal and Mike Gilham also got on the scoresheet for Bounty, while Liam Randall and substitute Darryl Taylor found the net for Overton.

Labour Club kept the pressure up by beating Preston Candover 4-1. Cameron George opened the scoring and Mike Hill added two more to put Labour 3-0 up before Dan Trump pulled one back from the penalty spot. George’s second completed the scoring in the second half.

Goals from Karl Buttle and Craig Lewington had Herriard Sports two up against AFC Aldermaston A at the break, with Lewington getting his second of the game before Paul Mellor pulled one back for Aldermaston.

Lewington completed his hat-trick and Wayne Rowland also netted as Herriard pulled away again, but Aldermaston had the final say, Kevin Flain making it 5-2.

Bottom side AFC Berg held Basingstoke United to a 2-2 draw. The strugglers actually led twice, Kieran Allayne putting them ahead on both occasions, but Dan Southgate and Tom Hartley scored United’s equalisers.

Basingstoke Athletic struggled to a 3-2 win over lowly Sherborne St John Reserves. There were no goals in the first hour and while Matt Button put Athletic ahead, Rob Perrett soon levelled for Sherborne.

Goals from Dale Bristow and Matt Stillwell had Athletic 3-1 ahead, but the underdogs set up a nervous finale as Rory Hatherell broke through to reduce the deficit.
