JOHN Timney won the Kennet Ospreys’ match, fished at Dandy’s Ford Fishery last Sunday. Drawn on peg 10 for the umpteenth time, an even 51lb of carp fell to his feeder tactics.

Basingstoke tackle dealer Bartosz Recki fished with pole and corn for his 46lb 14oz. Simon (The God) Kiefer put 33lb 8oz of carp in the sack on pole and corn, just shading it from Steve Shepherd, who used a similar tactic for his 33lb.

Eighteen fished on an awful day and some did not weigh.

Adventure AS fished their latest match at Greenridge Farm, where Sean Shiles did the business with 33lb of carp on pole and meat. Graham Spiller used pole and maggot for his 32lb of carp. Match secretary Nick Sargent caught 31lb 8oz of carp on pole and mag, followed by Mick Fordham with 26lb 8oz. Eighteen fished and two did not weigh.

Camrose AC fished lake one at Frobury Farm last Sunday, and the aptly named Rob Frost topped out with 18lb 11oz of mixed on pole and maggot. Bill Gordon caught 16lb 10oz of mixed on pole and maggot for second place. Pete Morris came next with 14lb 1oz, followed by Bill Atkinson on 9lb 10oz.

Ten fished and caught.

Oxoid AC went to New Barlows last Sunday, and six out of the field of eight wished they hadn’t. George Coomber caught two carp for his 4lb 14oz on pole and mag, while Tom Oates weighed one carp for 3lb 8oz.

Adventure’s match at Frobury Farm saw 27 anglers line up and they all caught. Graham Spiller won it with 61lb of carp on pole and punch. Mick Biles put 49lb 8oz on the scales employing the same methods. Scott Nelson’s 43lb was also a pole and bread affair, while Kevin Smith fished pole and corn for his 40lb 1oz.

Kennet Ospreys’ match at Bowsaw Lake put Bob Poulton on the podium with 98lb of feeder caught carp. Ian Jones fished pole and maggot for his 73lb 8oz. John Light came next on 60lb 8oz, followed by Steve Telford with an even 48lb. Twenty-four fished and caught.

The Camrose AC match at Billhook Lake saw Bill Atkinson top out with 54lb 1oz of carp on pole and pellet. Pete Morris was second on 41lb 11oz, followed by Pip Seeny with 20lb 4oz and Paul Hunt with 19lb 10oz. Twelve fished and caught.

Tadley Angling’s Kevin Roberts ran a match at Theale Pit, where Dave Stratford-Way did the business with 85lb of carp on pole and bread. Kevin Holmes used a similar tactic for his 79lb of carp, as did Darren Wright for his 71lb. Ten fished and caught.

With very high winds and rain last Sunday, none but the brave, or silly, put their umbrellas up. Enter Camo-uflage Jim, whose very expensive bright blue jobby lasted a full five minutes, before, in true Mary Poppins fashion, it took off with Jim attached. That was the high point of a dreadful day.
