KENNET Ospreys’ match at Gold Valley was a dour affair, with a cold easterly wind, rain and cramped conditions.

The fishing was always going to suffer, and it did, with Les Humphries winning the event with just 32lb of carp on the method.

John Timney caught three carp on the straight lead for second slot, weighing 22lb 8oz. Steve Hunt alternated twixt open end feeder and method feeder for his carp and bream bag of 22lb, while Graham Shadwell’s even 20lb made up the frame.

Twenty-nine fished and not all weighed.

Adventure AS fished at Soke Road Lake last Sunday, and it was Gary Herman who sorted it with 55lb 2oz of carp on pole and pellet. Darren Wright made second place with a carp and tench bag of 35lb 12oz, failing to pole and pellet. Kevin Smith put 33lb 10oz of carp on pole and maggot in the sack for third place, with Rob Gallagher making up the frame on 26lb 10oz.

Sixteen fished and all caught.

Camrose are at Old Barlows Lake this coming Sunday, Adventure are on their Willow Pool, while Ospreys are going to Billhook Lake, and I am going to the “Big One” Tackle Show in Farnborough.

Camrose AC went to New Barlows Lake for a match on Sunday last, and it was in-form Pete Morris who chalked up another win with 15lb 80z of carp and tench on pole and bread. Colin Thomas found three carp on pole and maggot for his 9lb 12oz. Rob Frost caught a bream and a carp on pole and bread for his 6lb 6oz, while match secretary Pip Seeny framed with 5lb 12oz.

Oxoid AC went to Charlie’s Lake in Andover for their latest fixture, and match secretary Peter Lovegrove won it with 7lb 2oz of bits on the pole and maggot. Tim Oates took second place with 3lb 10oz of bits on pole and mag. Pete Matthews fished the feeder for one carp that weighed 3lb 5oz. Del Baulsom came next with 3lb 3oz.

Nine fished and one blanked.

The Rob Frost mini-open on Old Barlows Lake last week put Kevin Smith in the driving seat with 25lb 10oz of carp on pole and maggot. James Andrews put 22lb 4oz of carp in the sack on pole and maggot, while Gary Herman’s 18lb 10oz of carp and bream was a pole and bread affair.

Twelve fished and caught.

If you want a good day’s pleasure fishing, a trip to Ashmore Copse, in Newnham Lane, is just the ticket, with good bags of carp and tench showing.

Catch me next week.
