AFC Aldermaston lost out by the odd goal in seven at the end of their Thames Valley Premier League trip to Highmoor Ibis Reserves on Saturday.
The teams went into the game level on points, but it was the hosts who managed to grind out a win that leaves them fourth in the table, three places ahead of Aldermaston in a tight table.
Michael Porter bagged a brace for the visitors, with Kai Parton-Edey also finding the net in a 4-3 defeat.
Aldermaston host 10th-placed Berks County on Saturday.
