Basingstoke Chess Club beaten by Farnham B in Border League
BASINGSTOKE Chess Club lost their Border League Division Two encounter 3.5-1.5 to a strong Farnham B side.
Barry Kocan won with a well constructed attack with the black pieces and Ivan Stipcevic recorded a draw.
The Everest Academy will host the Hampshire Junior Chess Mega Finals during May.
This will bring together the top 200 junior chess players from schools and clubs in Hampshire.
Most of the places are by invitation only, but a number of qualifying competitions are currently taking place between the youngsters who narrowly missed out. The top chess players in the Mega Finals will progress to the Giga Finals to be held later this year.
