ALEX Dunesby hit a best-of-the-week 82 as Overton II won their opening game of the season in Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division Three North West.

Andy Gould also made 70 as visiting Overton reached 275-7 away at Farley II, before restricting their hosts to 186-7 in reply.

There was a local derby in Division One North, with Basingstoke and North Hants IV hosting Kingsclere.

Benjamin Bissoon hit 55 for the hosts, but they could only reach 159-8 thanks to some excellent bowling from Kingsclere's Nigel Gundry, who took 5-36.

The visitors got home for an impressive six-wicket win, Keith Enters guiding them to their target with an unbeaten 54.

The visiting team also came out on top in the game between Sherfield-on-Loddon and Herriard. Rob Jones took 3-27 as hosts Sherfield were restricted to 166-8, before James Beckwith made 54 to help Herriard to a six-wicket win.

Ashford Hill and Odiham and Greywell both enjoyed good wins.

Ashford Hill managed to defend their total of 115-9 at home to Old Alresford, Pete Newton taking 6-22 as the visitors were dismissed for just 71.

Odiham restricted visiting Crown Taverners to 201-6, with Ed Helling hitting an unbeaten 66 and John Hodgson making 55 as they won by five wickets.

Paul Eckersley made 55, but Old Basing came up 25 runs short at home to Chawton, failing to match the visitors' total of 220-6, while Ramsdell lost a low-scoring game with visiting Donnington. Jonny Bradley and David Cook both took three wickets as Donnington were bowled out for 137, but the hosts could only muster 92 in reply.

Josh Bland hit an unbeaten 80 as Hook and Newnham Basics IV romped to an eight-wicket win away at East Woodhay II in Division Two North. The hosts made 186-4, but Bland saw his side home for a comfortable win.

Sean Merriman did well with the ball, taking 3-32 as Odiham and Greywell II restricted Penton to 202-7. However, the visitors were then bowled out for just 75.

It was a similar story for Old Basing III's Varch Taneja, who took 6-29 away at Twyford. The hosts were bowled out for 194, but Basing could only manage 160-9.

Rotherwick ITW were dismissed for just 50 on their way to losing by six wickets at Stockbridge, while Silchester's trip to St Cross Symondians V was called off.

Alex Brundle produced a fine all-round display as Oakley II saw off visiting Aldershot IV by 55 runs in Division Three North East. He made 54 in Oakley's 164-9 and then took 6-26 as Aldershot were bowled out for 109.

St Mary's beat visiting Sparsholt III by eight wickets, Dan Vickery and Keith Waldock claiming three victims each as the visitors were dismissed for 106.

Kerry Hartnett took 4-19 as Odiham and Greywell III recorded an 82-run win over St Cross Symondians VI, restricting their visitors to 138-8 in reply to their total of 220-7.

Basingstoke and North Hants V crushed hosts Liphook and Ripsley III by 152 runs. Jason Gregory made 54 as the visitors reached 190-6, but Liphook were skittled out for just 38, with Gary Watts (4-18), Ben Firrell (3-18) and Frank Bonsey (3-1) doing the damage.

AWE Tadley II were bowled out for 97 and lost by 131 runs to visiting Fair Oak IV, while Overton III were dismissed for just 57 and lost by seven wickets at Compton and Chandlers Ford III.

Ramsdell II enjoyed a seven-wicket win away at Aldershot V in Division Four North East. Mark Morley took 4-41 and Gary Prickett 3-31 as the hosts were dismissed for 115, with Des Monger making 60 in Ramsdell's winning reply.

Gareth Cloutt took 4-8 as Herriard II restricted visiting Hungerford to 118-7, but the hosts were then bowled out for 92. Whitchurch II were unable to defend 214 at Crown Taverners II, losing by seven wickets.
